Mysterious Cats

For thousands of years, cats have been among our best animal friends. But even now, they remain a mystery and suitable fare for Halloween legends and superstitions. Nearly every culture in the world has myths about cats, and because they have so many amazing abilities, they often seem supernatural to us. They can see in almost total darkness. They can jump long distances in relation to their body size.“Human beings, even with a pole vault, cannot jump as far as a cat,” according to folklorist Gerald Hausman. Along with his wife Loretta, Hausman has written many books on animals, including “Cats of Myth: Tales From Around the World” and “The Mythology of Cats: Feline Legend and Lore Through the Ages.”Cats can survive falls from heights that would kill other animals. In fact, they have an “internal gyroscope,” says Hausman. That enables cats to right themselves in mid-air so they land on their feet. The saying “to land on one’s feet,” meaning to come to a good end, comes from this ability.

The Equinox of spring: The festival of Ostara

The Equinox of spring is the festival of the fertility which celebrates the arrival of spring, the return of the goddess and the alarm clock of nature. In England, the Saxon ones dedicated this Sabbath to Éostre, goddess saxonne of the fertility or in

Ostara, Germanic goddess of the fertility

Other pagan traditions honour the green goddess and the Lord with wood. It is interesting to find all the ritual pagan ones in the celebrations which mark the resurrection of Christ. That one thinks of the bells which "Return from Rome" and which one sounded before to cause the alarm clock of nature, or, with these eggs decorated thrown to fire or hidden in the ground in offering with the goddess with the fertility. All the festivities connected to the Equinox of spring turned around the fields and of the sowing, the invocations of this day required moderate rains in order to hasten germination and sun to heat the ground and to allow the growth.

Mysteries of the Dark Moon

The Healing Power of the Dark Godde
ss

The Dark Moon has also been defined as the apogee of the Moon's orbit, or that point in the orbit farthest from the Earth. Both these points, the apogee and the second focal point, lie on the long axis of the orbital ellipse, the line of apsides. Seen from the Earth, they lie in the same direction, and therefore occupy the same place in the zodiac. The second focal point lies at a distance only about 36´000 km from the Earth, the apogee at about 400´000 km. Apart from this, both definitions can be regarded as being equivalent. Because the orbit of the Moon continually shifts forward in space, the Dark Moon moves along the zodiac at about 40° per year. A complete revolution takes 8 years and 10 months.
